It is not necessary to be a member of the society in order to apply for a passport.

Very Short Notice

Should you need a passport at ‘very short notice’ you may ring The Presbytery, St James’s Church, James’s Street, Dublin 8,  who may be able to accommodate you. Their phone number is 01 453 1143.

Official accreditation of a pilgrim on the road. It is usually obtained in the country of origin or at the starting point of each pilgrimage. It is stamped in each town the pilgrim passes through or spends a night and it is presented in the Cathedral office in Santiago as a proof of worth for the receipt of the Compostela or certificate of pilgrimage.

To qualify for the Compostela, the traditional certificate of pilgrimage, granted by the Cathedral authorities in Santiago (Pilgrim Office, 1 Rua de Vilar).

Cross in Spain

You must have walked a minimum of 100 km (the last 100 km) or cycled at least the last 200km, and you must have undertaken the Pilgrimage for religious / spiritual reasons.

You will have to show your stamped Pilgrim Passport (credencial) as proof of your journey. If you have not made the pilgrimage for religious / spiritual reasons, you may ask for a ‘Certificate’ of Pilgrimage.
